“In 2021, the SeixalJazz International Festival celebrates 25 years and returns, between 14 and 23 October, to the Municipal Auditorium of the Seixal Cultural Forum, always at 10:00 pm”, with a great artists, which it puts together on stage national projects and that counts on the return of the American collectives”, says the Seixal City Council in a statement released on 4 August.

The festival kicks off on 14 October with "the quartet of North American drummer Billy Hart, returning to Seixal now as leader, after his last time, in 2018, at the festival".

On the second day of SeixalJazz, the Diogo Alexandre Bock Ensemble performs, “with the drums once again marking their place in a collective that brings together the most outstanding musicians in the national and international jazz scene”.

Another return to the festival is scheduled for 16 October, “this time under the responsibility of LUME. – Lisbon Underground Music Ensemble, a Portuguese project that puts 15 instrumentalists on stage, directed by pianist Marco Barroso”.

Dayna Stephens on saxaphone

The program continues on 20 October with João Lencastre's Communion project, now in the trio version, “which will present compositions of the drummer's most recent works, well received by enthusiasts in the country and abroad”.

On 21 October, the quartet of the American saxophonist Dayna Stephens performs, “already with ten original works very well received by the critics”.

The following day, 22 October, the Chilean Melissa Aldana's quartet takes to the stage, “acclaimed as one of the best contemporary saxophonists”.

The closing of the 22nd edition of SeixalJazz is up to the North American saxophonist Ted Nash, who returns to the festival year in trio with the bassist Ben Allison and the guitarist Steve Cardenas.
