According to the same data, there was a further reduction in hospitalisations in the ward and in intensive care.

According to the DGS bulletin, 754 people with covid-19 are hospitalised today, 31 fewer than on Wednesday, 169 of which are in intensive care, 12 fewer in the last 24 hours.

The Lisbon and Vale do Tejo area, with 1,036 cases, and the North region, with 905, represent 72 percent of the total of new infections verified in the last 24 hours.

The deaths occurred in the Lisbon and Vale do Tejo region (6), in the North region (2) in the Alentejo (2) and in the Algarve (1).

Active cases across the country now total 44,407, having been added up to 488 in the last 24 hours, and there are 836 fewer contacts under surveillance, for a total of 57,278.

The total number of people recovered amounts to 934,017, with 2,209 registered in the last 24 hours.

Of the total of new cases, 1,332 are men and 1,378 are women (from Wednesday to today two people of undetermined sex were identified as women).

In total, 9,202 men and 8,323 women died per covid-19 in Portugal, the vast majority aged over 80 years, with no deaths to register under the age group of 50-59 years.
