During tough times and when people are struggling with mental health you sometimes need to read a book that will raise your spirits. I would say the author has achieved that with these simple but effective reflections and life lessons laid out in one place.

It’s not a book as such, rather a collection of thoughts, words, ideas from the author and others that he has put together in a book.

I think the author says it best ´It is a strange paradox, that many of the clearest, most comforting life lessons are learned while we are at our lowest. But then we never think about food more than when we are hungry and we never think about life rafts more than when we are thrown overboard´

Matt Haig is the number one bestselling author of Reasons to Stay Alive. Haig also writes award-winning books for children, including A Boy Called Christmas, which is being made into a feature film soon.

This book is for those days when you need comfort. You can curl up, read a few pages and hopefully look at things differently in the morning.

It’s not everyone’s cup of tea but if you need to clear your mind, boost your spirit then I would recommend you buy yourself and even a friend a copy.

If you have read the author’s previous books you will know that he has suffered from depression and mental health issues. Through clawing his way back to the light this is a highly personal book and you can feel that this is a comfort to him which in turn makes this book extra special.
