According to the financial regulator, Banco de Portugal (BdP), the Portuguese working in Angola sent 21.16 million €, which represents an increase of 1.2 percent compared to the 20.9 million € they had sent in June last year.

As usual, data from Angola represent almost all the funds sent by the Portuguese in Portuguese-speaking African Countries (PALOP).

Thus, Portuguese emigrants in the PALOP sent 21.6 million €, which represents an increase of 0.23 percent compared to the 21.5 million sent in June last year.

In the opposite direction, Angolans working in Portugal sent to their country more than 1 million €, which represents an increase of 53 percent compared to the 660 thousand € sent in June last year.

Globally, remittances from Portuguese emigrants rose by 6.9 percent to 306.2 million € in June compared to the same period of 2020, with a 2.1 percent drop in France, one of the largest inbound markets for these revenues.

Portuguese emigrants in Switzerland were those who sent the largest amount to Portugal, 88.9 million €, which represents an increase of 9.25 percent compared to the same period last year and is slightly above what was sent by Portuguese emigrants in France (88.6 million €).

Foreigners working in Portugal sent 45.7 million € in June, which represents an increase of 5.6 percent compared to the 43.2 million sent in June last year, according to the BdP.
