Portugal Sotheby’s Realty has announced the marketing of the new Sun Cliffs development which consists of 26 plots for villas and 72 fully furnished apartments as well as a 204 room five star hotel.
Construction of the project has already begun and is expected to be completed in the next two to three years.
According to the CEO of Portugal Sotheby’s, Miguel Poisson: “We are confident that Sun Cliffs will have an excellent acceptance in the market, both nationally and internationally. We are seeing great demand for apartments in the Algarve, both from national clients for second homes and international clients. As they are tourist apartments, we expect that they will be in great demand through the Golden Visa programme, as they will not be covered by the programme’s new rules.”
By all means pull down old buildings that were left half-finished. But this does not look like a plan with environment-friendliness, sustainability and water-economy in mind. Ponta da Piedade is a unique area with spectacular coastline, footpaths, green expanses, best enjoyed in its natural state. It should be preserved. A huge development like this will add to the congestion of traffic on access roads during peak holiday months and put further strain on scarce water resources in the region.
