“It is with great satisfaction that we make known all the work that has been developed during this long period of pandemic, in which we were not stuck, quite the contrary. Without cruise ships, we channelled our energies into the maintenance and requalification of our infrastructures and equipment”, said the president of APRAM, Paula Cabaço.

The official was speaking at Gare Marítima, in Funchal, at the ceremony to present the new visual identity of the Ports of Madeira, supported by a promotional film and a new institutional brochure, under the motto “Your Safe Port”.

“This new signature is an important sign of confidence to all who visit Madeira and Porto Santo through the Ports of Madeira”, said Paula Cabaço.

According to the president of APRAM, Madeira has “all the conditions to receive cruise ships safely” and constitutes an “extremely attractive destination”.

The new signature of the Portos da Madeira brand – “Your Safe Port” – aims to reinforce APRAM's commitment to safety issues in the cruise tourism market.

In March 2021, APRAM received the certification “Good Practices in the Management of Biological Risks Associated with SARS-COV-2”, awarded by SGS Portugal, and, in September, Turismo de Portugal, in partnership with European Tourism, awarded the seal “Clean & Safe 2021” to the passenger terminal at the port of Funchal.

This certification assures those who visit Madeira through this terminal that hygiene and safety procedures and principles are complied with, in accordance with the standards of the “European Tourism Covid-19 Safety Seal”.

In the first two weeks of October, the ports of Madeira received 12 cruises, including the Iona, the largest vessel in tonnage that made its debut in the region, out of a total of 29 calls planned by the end of the month.

In November, the ports of Madeira and Porto Santo are expected to receive 58 cruise ships.
