“In the last three weeks we have quadrupled our cases and almost quintupled and, knowing that we have the very important advantage of having the overwhelming majority of our population vaccinated, it is good that we are aware that the pandemic has not passed”, warned the mayor.

Stating that positive cases "are growing", Ribau Esteves acknowledged that "the impacts of the disease on vaccinated people are very small", but said that, with the mobility that exists, the new wave that started in Eastern European countries and has also reached Central European countries will also affect the country.

“It is good that we are aware that the pandemic has not passed, that we have the right to have a more relaxed, normal life, but we do not have the right to neglect, to forget a reality that is in our lives”, he reinforced.

"We have to take care of ourselves and that is the appeal I wanted to leave today", said the mayor, realising that the number of admissions at the Hospital de Aveiro has been rising.
