Speaking to Lusa news agency, Cadete de Matos stated that “as a result of the 5G auction”, operators will have the “obligation to guarantee throughout the Azores region” a “coverage with a very good high quality of service”.

"In all municipalities, in all parishes of the Azores, there will have to be coverage of at least 75% of the population, in less than two years, by 2023, with a coverage of 100 megabytes in terms of quality of internet service ”, he declared.

The president of Anacom added that "within four years, until 2025", the coverage of 100 megabytes will have to cover "at least 90% of the population" of the Azores.

“We are going to have a very substantial transformation in the quality of data access, in internet access, through the mobile network, in all parishes, in all the islands of the Azores”, he pointed out.
