Between December 20, 2021 and January 3, 2022, 178,569 new cases of infection were diagnosed. Looking back a year, there were 55,467 new cases in the same period, a 200 percent increase.

However, compared to last year, there is currently a large decrease in relation to the number of people who are hospitalised: between December 20, 2020 and January 3, 2021, the average number of hospitalised people was 2,925.2, with a low of 2,754 recorded on December 25 and a high of 3,158 on December 21st.

As for deaths attributed to Covid-19, the decline is even more pronounced: Between December 20, 2021 and January 3 of this year, the average number of daily deaths was 14.8, 79.2% less than the average of 71.4 daily deaths verified in the same period of a year ago.

In this period between 2020 and 2021, the day with the most deaths attributed to the disease was December 23, with 89 deaths, while in the last fifteen days, the day with the most deaths was January 1, with 21 deaths.
