In intensive care units, 150 are hospitalised, three fewer than on Saturday.

The daily new cases of infection dropped from 31,541 on Saturday to 26,419, totalling 1,639,846 confirmed since the beginning of the pandemic in Portugal.

Of these, 273,961 are active (15,639 more), 1,346,772 recovered (10,758) and 19,113 died (22 more), with 224,673 contacts being under surveillance, 6,404 more when compared to Saturday.

Of the 22 deaths, 11 occurred in the Lisbon and Vale do Tejo region, four in the North and two in the Centre, Alentejo and Algarve and one in Madeira.

Covid-19 is more deadly in men (10,053) than in women (9,060) and continues to affect more people over the age of 80 (about 12,000 people), from 70 to 79 years old (about 4,000) and from 60 to 69 years (about 2,000).

By regions, Lisbon and Vale do Tejo have the largest number of confirmed cases of covid-19 (651,818), with 11,370 new cases in the last 24 hours, followed by the North with 594,998 (+9,516), the Centre with 224,191 (+2,640), the Algarve with 65,904 (+698) and the Alentejo with 56,094 (+885).

In the autonomous regions, Madeira accounts for 31,969, of which 1,024 appeared in the last 24 hours, and the Azores 14,872 (plus 286).
