According to the DGS weekly epidemiological bulletin, the number of confirmed cases of infection dropped by 8,093 compared to the previous week, with a reduction of five deaths in the comparison between the two periods.

Based on this criterion, the bulletin indicates that, last Monday, 1,110 people were hospitalised, 70 less than on the same day of the previous week, of which 60 patients were in intensive care units, minus one.

According to DGS data, the seven-day incidence was, on Monday, at 602 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, having registered a 12% reduction in relation to the previous week, while the transmissibility index (Rt) of the coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 dropped from 0.97 to 0.95 in the country.

By region, Lisbon and Vale do Tejo recorded a total of 22,923 cases between March 29 and April 4, 3,772 less than in the previous period, and 54 deaths, plus two.

The Central region accounted for 11,548 cases (minus 1,567) and 34 deaths (plus one) and the North totalled 12,618 cases of infection (minus 1,280) and 22 deaths (minus ten).

In the Alentejo, there were 4,252 positive cases (less 391) and 12 deaths (plus five) and in the Algarve there were 3,951 infections by SARS-CoV-2 (less 664) and eight deaths (less six).

As for the autonomous regions, the Azores had 2,914 new infections between March 29 and April 4 (plus 540) and six deaths (plus five), while Madeira recorded 3,782 cases in those seven days (minus 959) and nine deaths (minus two).
