The religious ceremony takes place on the occasion of Easter Sunday and its route, of about one kilometre, is decorated with carpets of flowers that cover the floor.

In addition to the Aleluia procession, the popular festival also features floral contests, handicrafts, gastronomy and visitors can watch performances.

The Municipality of São Brás de Alportel underlined the importance of the Festa das Torchas Floridas for the São Brás community, by attracting “thousands of visitors”.

“The Festa das Torchas Floridas involves the entire community and different generations, attracting thousands of national and international tourists who choose to experience Easter in a vibrant and unique way in São Brás de Alportel”, said the municipality.

The streets through which the procession passes will be open to the public to be able to see the arrangements from 9:30am. The procession starts at 11 am.
