Ronaldo, 37, has 18 goals in 30 Premier League games this season and recently scored his 100th goal in the competition.

In April, the Portuguese, who had already been voted player of the month in September, completed a hat-trick against Norwich and also scored against Chelsea and Arsenal.

Also in the running for the April Player of the Month award were Bruno Fernandes, his Manchester United team-mate, Belgium Kevin de Bruyne and Brazilian Gabriel Jesus, both of Manchester City, as well as Tottenham's South Korean Son Heung-min and Newcastle's Brazilian Bruno Guimaraes.

Nathan Collins (Burnley), Thiago (Liverpool) and Leandro Trossard (Brighton) were also in the running for the award.
