The road safety campaign “At the wheel, the mobile phone can wait” is part of the 2022 National Inspection Plan and will run until May 30 across the country.

According to ANSR, last year, 24,306 violations were detected regarding the use of mobile phones while driving, which represents an increase of 5.5% compared to 2020.

In a joint statement, the ANSR, the PSP and the GNR stress that “it is urgent to stop this behaviour”, arguing that the use of a mobile phone while driving increases the probability of having an accident by four times.

The campaign “At the wheel, the mobile phone can wait” will integrate various awareness-raising actions carried out by the ANSR and inspection operations by the GNR and the PSP, with a special focus on roads with high road traffic.
