According to a statement, in partnership with the Directorate General for Food and Veterinary (DGAV), the Municipality of Faro will promote once again a rabies vaccination campaign from 23 June.

The initiative will take place from 23 June to 11 August, when the municipal vet will go to 20 strategic points in all the parishes of Faro municipality.

Rabies vaccination is mandatory for all dogs three months of age or older. This procedure implies a payment of the vaccination fee annually determined by the DGAV and according to the period in which it is applied.

From 1 October, the vaccination will take place on Tuesdays, between 10am and 11h30am in the vet office located in the old supply market in Estoi.

The campaign is part of the National Programme for the Control and Epidemiological Monitoring of Animal Rabies and other and other diseases or infections transmissible between animals and humans, reads the note.
