According to the Directorate-General for Food and Veterinary Medicine (DGAV) “In the month of August, another mandatory period for Swine Stock Statements (DES) takes place, according to the PCEDA Notice (Aujeszky’s Disease Control and Eradication Plan) of the General Directorate of Food and Veterinary Medicine”.

According to DGAV, the declaration of swine stocks is considered an essential health measure to combat Aujeszky's disease and failure to comply with it implies penalties, such as not allowing the operator to directly issue swine transit guides through iDigital, until the situation is resolved.

The declaration of swine stocks can be made directly by the operator on the IFAP portal, in any department of the Regional Food and Veterinary Services or in farmers' organisations registered with IFAP.

According to DGAV rules, "swine stock declarations made after the deadline must be reported on the 1st of the month of the previous mandatory period", pointing out as an example that a declaration submitted on November 2nd must be reported on August 1 of that year.

Pig farmers are required to fulfil declarations three times a year – April, August and December.
