"Breach of contract remains a scourge of the national rental market in the first six months of 2022: one in four respondents in the 5th edition of the ALP Barometer (24.4%) has rent arrears", concluded the ALP study.

Among those who have rent arrears, a third of the defaults reach up to three months of rent arrears, but a significant portion of 28% of respondents have more than half a year of rent yet to be received.

Even so, the association pointed out, more than half of landlords with defaulting tenants (54.4%) admitted that they will not go to court or instruct evictions.
