The immunisation strategy for the autumn-winter will be presented by the heads of the National Medicines Authority (Infarmed), the Directorate General of Health (DGS) and the Centre for Coordination and Support to the Ministry of Health (NCAMS), which is responsible for the logistics of vaccination.

The outgoing Health Minister, Marta Temido, announced last week that the booster vaccination for covid-19 and against seasonal flu should start in the week beginning the 5 September.

According to Marta Temido, this vaccination plan against the two viruses is intended to be a response mainly aimed at the most vulnerable population, in a context in which the Government anticipates "an increase in demand for health services" in the coming months.

According to the latest data from the DGS, 93% of the population has the complete vaccination against covid-19, 66% of those eligible received the booster vaccines and 63% of the elderly aged 80 or over took the second dose to reinforce their immunisation against SARS-CoV-2.
