Together they were able to enjoy an exceptional scientific program and a panel of experts who addressed the most current topics in the nursing specialty and in the world, we live in, guided by the ethical principles that govern the practice of these health professionals.

The Congress event included 7 Workshops, 6 Debate Panels with experts, 5 Conferences with National and European experts, 19 Free Communications and 27 E-Posters were presented and awarded, and a technical exhibition with 28 companies present.


Not forgetting the opening session with the classical music group “Prescrições musicais” (“musical prescriptions”) made up of health professionals, the meeting of the 6 Past Presidents of the AESOP who left us the testimony of the legacies of each mandate, including the testimony of Margaret Brett, 1st President EORNA (European Operating Room Nurses Association). “Finally, there was an announcement of the creation of the “AESOP / Margaret Brett” Training Scholarship to support the specialized education of perioperative nurses in Portugal.”


Margaret Brett stated that “As President of EORNA it was a great pleasure to watch AESOP develop from its early introduction into the Excellent, Very Professional organisation it has become, providing superb guidelines to direct the skill, knowledge and practice of Operating Room Nurses in their delivery of excellent nursing care.” Adding that “The establishment of the AESOP/Margaret Brett annual award is a great honour for me as this is such a professional well respected organisation both nationally and internationally.”
