According to Margarida Castro Martins, the reopening of the tunnels took place in the early hours of today, around 4:30 am.

The decision to close the three tunnels took into account the orange warning from 00:00 on Sunday and the possibility of an unexpected weather conditions.

Thus, road traffic in those three tunnels was cut off from 23:30 on Saturday, with the Marquês de Pombal tunnel being monitored.

On Saturday, the National Civil Protection Authority (ANPC) decreed a state of special alert at yellow level for the entire continent, the second most serious of a scale of four, due to worsening weather conditions.
