INSA's weekly report on the evolution of Covid-19 reveals that the average Rt, which estimates the number of secondary cases of infection resulting from each person carrying the virus, dropped from 0.98 to 0.95 at national level, with its true value to be between 0.93 and 0.96 with 95% confidence.
The Algarve region, the Azores and Madeira have a transmissibility index above the threshold of 1.14, with 1.42 and 1.42, respectively, indicate data from the Instituto Nacional Dr. Ricardo Jorge for the period between the 2nd and 6th of December.
According to the report, the North region registers an average Rt value of 0.89, the Center 0.91, Lisbon and Tagus Valley 0.96, and the Alentejo 1.14.
"Comparing with Europe, Portugal has a 14-day cumulative notification rate between 20 and 59.9 cases per 100,000 inhabitants and an Rt of less than 1, that is, a reduced notification rate with a downward trend", underlines the report.
