According to the municipality’s website, the “Queen of the Almond blossom” festival has been celebrated since 1941 in the municipality of Figueira de Castelo Rodrigo in the district of Guarda.

Once again this is one of highlights of the arrival of spring and will be celebrated on the weekend from 24 to 26 February and from 3 to 5 March, featuring the sale of regional products by local producers and various cultural and sporting activities.

The official opening is scheduled for 18:00, in the fair grounds (next to the Municipal Market), and has the presence of the Minister of Territorial Cohesion, Ana Abrunhosa.

This year's event features a musical program that includes artists: Toy, Némanus, Miguel Azevedo and Jorge Guerreiro, and there is also a bet on local artists and bands.



Traditional games are also scheduled, an almond blossom walk, the 12th Raid TT, a mountain bike race and the presence of the Ethnographic Group of Sabugal and the Group of Cavaquinhos and Cantares of the Academia Figueira Senior.

There is also something for the youngest members of the family, who can enjoy "Zumba Kids" and "Tik Tok Dance". The famed almond tree in bloom feast, will be held the usual Almendro Fair, in Barca D'Alva, a cross-border fair that brings together Portuguese and Spaniards, in a tradition that is always marked with the planting of an almond tree.
