No, the reason is that Portugal offers much of what Germans now miss more and more in their country, such as a healthy diet at affordable prices, a landscape in which you get lost because it is so different and so sparsely populated. An Internet access that works not only in the metropolitan areas, and the unique sympathy that you experience in Portugal combined with a certain deceleration that is now missing in Germany.

But Portugal is not only the Algarve as described in the first part of this article series. No, Portugal is more than what the Alentejo is the breadbasket of Portugal and the most sparsely populated region in Portugal, which attracts many Germans looking for a different way of life. One can call this species an alternative such as that of the well-known German couple on Monte Forca who became known in Germany with the ZDF production "Two Bavarians and 40,000 Bees - Life for a Paradise in Portugal". But this is just one example - there are many more, such as the Pohl family better known as Deutsche Vermögensberatung, which operates a large winery near Beja with livestock farming and tourism. Better known as the "Herdade dos Grous". But this is not the only investment of this family and the DVAG in addition to the Herdade dos Grous you also operate one of the best five-star resorts in Portugal, which very often stars such as Michael Schuhmacher and his family, Sebastian Vettel, Fabian Hambüchen, Joey Kelly next to Jürgen Klopp and many others have already been among their guests. The five-star Hotel Vila Vita Park is located directly on the sea in the Algarve, close to Carvoeiro.

The Alentejo region is now also becoming more and more a magnet for surfers who find the waves and temperatures on the west coast in winter that make it possible to practice their sport in the best conditions. In addition, you have fantastic conditions to work remotely, as a good network coverage is most achieved. Imagine working as an architect on a project and having 4G Internet right on the beach to hold a video chat with your colleagues in Berlin in shorts and T-shirt, that's everyday life in Portugal in October as well as in March.

Germans are now looking for the way to Portugal both in winter and in summer the motives are manifold as well as the age, from young to old with and without family, Portugal is a country that is not only currently, but for a long time one of the best emigration countries. This applies to the entire country, depending on your taste.

On the way north and to the center of Portugal we will meet other Germans who have found their success story in Portugal, such as the Messerschmidt family in Lourinhã known through the VOX series "The Emigrants". But also the Zalando brothers, who have partly relocated their Rocket Internet company to Porto, as well as the big German car manufacturers and what made them believe in Portugal and relocate parts of their development departments here.

Overall, this trip will be a short excerpt of what Germans have achieved in Portugal, as well as what motivates you to do so and what Portugal can offer Germans in general.
