Ever thought of joining an am-dram group but was nervous about trying out for a show? Maybe the testimonies from some of our new members who appeared in last November’s production of Jack and the Beanstalk might persuade you.

Brian Anderson who played the Giant writes, ‘My wife and I were warmly welcomed by everyone and encouraged to try out for the show. Rehearsals were hard work but tons of fun and worth every minute because the production was fabulous. This entire group of thespians is great to work with and we are looking forward to future events.’

Andy Arkle, the Baron, says, ‘It’s been decades since I was involved in a drama group and I am thoroughly enjoying my time with The Algarveans. I would encourage anyone interested in any sort of acting, singing, dance and backstage activities to meet the group. Lack of experience is no problem, we encourage newcomers.’

Alex Melo, who played the hero Jack adds, ‘Joining the Algarveans has created new friendships, the feeling of accomplishment, and better appreciation for theatre. Plus it’s great fun!’

The Algarveans’ youngest member just turned ten and the oldest is in her eighties, so age is no barrier. Join us for workshops, events and friendship. See our website for more details of our upcoming programme - www.thealgarveans.com.
