The man was rescued by a team comprised of Ballybunion Rescue, An Garda Síochána, and the Ballybunion unit of the Irish Coast Guard.

The team at Ballybunion Rescue informed the public of the incident on their Facebook page, saying: “At 16:43hrs our pagers were activated for a member of the public who had fallen from the cliffs on the Men’s beach side of the Castle Green.

“Medical treatment was provided by the team (which included a Paramedic and EMTs). Casualty was prepared for transport ready for Rescue 115 who hot landed on the beach and lifted to Limerick University Hospital.”

The heroic rescuers added that they were “wishing a speedy recovery to the casualty.”
