The new testers will bring the total number of testers to 200. The 75 new testers come after an additional 30 were sanctioned in July of last year.

With the new testers, the RSA expect the backlog of applicants to be returned to target customer service levels by the end of the first quarter of 2024.

Currently, some hopeful drivers are having to wait up to a year to do their driving test.

Sam Waide, CEO of the RSA, welcome the announcement.

“Our team have worked very hard to support applicants during this busy time,” he said.

“We look forward to working with these new staff to bring our Driver Testing service to normal levels.”

The recruitment campaign will go live from today, Tuesday, 11th April. Once the recruitment process is complete, training will commence with successful candidates and new driver testers will begin testing in October.
