Presented by brand valuation consultancy Brand Finance, the ranking is based on a global survey of around 15,000 members of the public carried out in April 2023 in 20 countries on all continents to measure the perceptions of the 100 best cities in the world.

The Index placed London as the best city brand in the world, followed by New York and Paris.

With a score of 67.5/100 on the Brand Finance City Index, Lisbon, combines its captivating architecture, cultural heritage, gastronomy, lively atmosphere and Fado music to make Lisbon a highly appreciated destination.

According to the new study, Lisbon stands out internationally for its people and values, in 11th place, culture and heritage, in 14th place, habitability, in 23rd place, and sustainability, in 37th place.

Pilar Alonso Ulloa, General Manager for the Iberian Peninsula (Spain, Portugal) and South America, commented: "A combination of factors such as expanding tourism, the promotion of innovation and technology, foreign investment, the hosting of cultural events and the commitment to sustainability have contributed to consolidating Lisbon's status as a city in constant growth and global projection."
