Wine tourism has become increasingly popular, with Google searches for wine holidays and vineyard tours rising by 72% in 12 months. To provide wine lovers with some travel guidance, luxury travel brand, CV Villas, has released a new report which analyses wine ratings from Vivino, the world's largest wine marketplace and review website, to determine the best holiday destinations for wine enthusiasts.

The study revealed that France's Champagne region is the best destination for wine lovers to sample their favourite beverage, with the highest-rated bottles of wine being produced in this region. Meanwhile, Boschendal in South Africa tops the list as the most beautiful vineyard in the world, according to Instagram data.

The Alentejo in Portugal features in 12th place in the rankings, coming ahead of Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru in France and Rioja in Spain.

Pete Brudenell, General Manager from CV Villas said: “We all know Champagne produces outstanding world-class sparkling wine, from Dom Pérignon to the more affordable Taittinger! It is an area synonymous with luxurious bottles of bubbles; however, we wanted to show people how many other locations around the world are also producing great quality tipples whilst offering stunning scenery, too.

“If you are looking to take yourself on a wine holiday or want to book a vineyard tour for your next trip, be sure to look at the likes of Portugal, Spain and Greece, too.”
