Over 42,000 passengers are expected to filter through the airport over the extended weekend, a potential 18.5% increase on the same weekend last year, as well as a 3% increase compared to 2019.

The beginning of June will bear the return of routes leading to sunny summer season destinations like Barcelona and Corfu, which open on June 1st and 3rd, respectively. The weekend will also host the beginning of the new daily seasonal service between Shannon and Chicago.

The airport will feature 33 routes to 11 countries this summer. They also benefit from new 3D scanning technology that’s been installed, allowing liquids and tech devices to be accurately seen through hand luggage, meaning it will no longer be required to take them out through security or limit liquid containers to 100ml.
