This is the first edition of the Alentejo World Heritage Festival, which will take place on the 25th, 26th and 27th of August, in the village of Cabrela, in the municipality of Montemor-o-Novo, promoted by the associations Égide and Lar Doce Ler.

“There will be unique moments of Alentejo singing, Fado and flamenco, but an orchestration is also being made so that there is unity”, according to the director of the festival, David Lopes.

This Iberian region, noted the festival director, “is perhaps the only place in the world where, so close geographically, three expressions elected as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity” by UNESCO coexist.

As for the choice of location, David Lopes stressed that "there is magic" when trying to organise a cultural initiative "in a low-density territory, with few people, but the impact on the region is very large".

The festival is organised by Égide – Associação Portuguesa das Artes and by the association Lar Doce Ler and has the support of the Municipality of Montemor-o-Novo and the Parish Council of Cabrela.
