After a telephone call informed the police of the bird at risk’s location on the National Road 218 between the settlement of Malhadas and the city of Miranda do Douro, the police immediately moved to the spot, proceeding with the rescue and transport of the bird to the Centre for Environmental Interpretation and Animal Recovery (CIARA) in Felgar to monitor its state of health, recovery and future freeing into its natural habitat.
The National Republican Guard, through the Nature and Environment Protection Service (SEPNA), has the protection of animals as a daily concern, appealing to the callout of any situations of mistreating or abandonment. For that effect, one can use the Environment and Territory SOS Line (808 200 520), which functions permanently for the callout of infractions and the clarifying of questions.
