The Turismo do Porto e Norte appeals that, at a time when the new project for the Lisbon region is being presented to the country, “the North cannot be forgotten.”

Regarding the 16 percent growth achieved in 2023, 15 million passengers, the president of the Strategic Council, Bernardo Trindade, quoted that it is “important and urgent to call attention to the need for investment” at the Francisco Sá Carneiro Airport.

The country and ANA Aeroportos must provide Francisco Sá Carneiro Airport “with customer service conditions, airspace management, in land and air areas, compatible with the ambition that characterises the region.”

“Therefore, we must be cautious, from now on, investing in this airport, avoiding the future and foreseeable constraints, which could harm the region and the country”, he states, in hopes of “learning from mistakes made at the Lisbon airport”.

Francisco Sá Carneiro Airport “recently ranked first in its segment in terms of performance, ahead of airports located in some of the main European capitals”, he highlights.

In accordance with the AirHelp Score Ranking, Porto airport was considered “the best Portuguese airport”, occupying 91st position out of 194 airports evaluated around the world.

“However, it is important to note that this airport dropped 37 places, which is why it is a sign to take into consideration”, stressed the Turismo do Porto e Norte.
