According to VisaGuide.World, the rankings for best countries for digital nomads are based on a number of criteria including active visa availability, internet speed, taxation policies, income requirement, cost of living and tourism population.

Historically Portugal has held the top spot for digital nomads however it has dropped down the rankings due to the end of the NHR regime which allowed for 10 years of income tax reductions.

The list is now led by Iberian neighbour Spain, with a score of 4.5 out of 5. This is helped largely by the remote work visa in the country which allows people to live in the country for a year as long as they have an income at least double that of the minimum wage of €2,600 a month.

The top ten of the digital nomad rankings sees Spain in the top spot followed by Argentina, Romania, UAE, Croatia, then Portugal in 6th, followed by Uruguay, Malta, Norway and Andorra.
