According to Redes Energéticas Nacionais (REN), the value recorded corresponded to 63% of national electricity consumption at that time.
On that day, electricity consumption totalled 167 gigawatts (GWh), with a peak of 8,553 MW at 7:30pm, and renewable production supplied 88% of national consumption and the export balance, with wind power standing out with 42%.
The previous maximum recorded by the National Electric System had been reached on October 17, 2023, at 2:30am, with a production of 4,843 MW, the company said in a statement.
