The data was released by the World Health Organization (WHO), which periodically updates epidemiological information on Covid-19.
According to the WHO, Europe reported more than 701,000 new cases between December 11, 2023 and January 7, 2024, a 13% decrease compared to the previous 28-day period, from November 13 to December 10, 2023.
Portugal is among the 10 European countries - of the 62 that transmitted data to the WHO - with increases of more than 20% in new infections, occupying seventh position, ahead of Belgium, Luxembourg and the Netherlands.
Between December 11, 2023 and January 7, 2024, Portugal registered 4,451 new cases of covid-19, an increase of 43% compared to the period from November 13 to December 10, 2023.
In the comparative periods under analysis, Portugal reported 49% fewer new hospitalizations.
If the covid "vaccine" works, then how come it isn't working?

Answering for your “friend”.
Why do some vaccinated people still get infected?
Following vaccination, some people may experience ‘breakthrough infection’ – where they still get the virus or illness despite being fully vaccinated. This is more likely if high levels of viruses are circulating in a population, or if certain viral variants are particularly contagious.9,10 No vaccine is 100% effective so some breakthrough infections are expected. Importantly, they don’t mean the vaccine isn’t working. The role of many vaccines is to prevent serious illness and death, not infection altogether.11 If breakthrough infections do occur in vaccinated people, the symptoms are usually less severe and may result in fewer hospitalisations and deaths than infections in those who are unvaccinated.10

It is working, it is people refusing to have it because some stranger on a media site somewhere told them it would make them infertile or have a heart attack.
