The initiative, which will take place from May 11 to May 31, is promoted by the Associação de Municípios do Alentejo Central (AMCAL), constituted by five municipal councils, three from the Beja district (Alvito, Cuba and Vidigueira) and two from the district of Évora (Portel and Viana do Alentejo).

The festival is centered around culture and heritage, as they are “factors in the promotion, appreciation and development of the territory”, explained AMCAL.

The goal “consists of the association of some of the biggest names in Portuguese music with the most iconic monuments and sites in the municipalities”, declared the association.

“Alentejo Encantado aims to create unique concerts, in an intimate format, in which each artist’s performance will have a focus on the scenic enhancement of each monument”, highlighted the promoting entity.

In this year’s edition of the festival, the inaugural show will be headlined by Dino D’Santiago, in Viana do Alentejo, on May 11, and in the neighbouring municipality of Alvito, on May 17, musician Miguel Araújo will take to the stage.

On May 24, the town of Pedrógão, in the municipality of Vidigueira, will be welcoming artist Nena, and on May 25, Bábara Tinoco will perform in Portel.

“Acess to the concerts is free, however, the available seats are limited by the characteristics of the spaces”, warned the association, guaranteeing that it will soon announce the locations of this season’s shows.

The Associação de Municípios do Alentejo Central was established in 1991 and its main functions are: environment and waste management, water supply for human consumption in high demand (until July 2010), basic sanitation, tourism, culture and heritage.
