Miguel Cruz says that the works on the Beira Alta line and the South International Corridor will be completed this year and that Ferrovia 2020 ended 2023 with 90% completion and that no community funds were lost.

“Ferrovia 2020 closed December 2023 a little below 90%, but we must not forget that we had already made the decision some time ago to remove some projects, for different reasons. Because there were delays, but also to maximise the use of community funds, some investments have now entered the programs for 2030. Over time, we have added some complementary investments to Ferrovia 2020, but the investments that are most visible are expected to be completed in 2024. This is the case of the Beira Alta line and the South International Corridor. This corridor is divided into several projects and one of them is a little more delayed and that is where we are currently focused”, says Miguel Cruz.

The official also revealed that the new estimate of the amount to be paid in expropriations for the construction of the high-speed line should not exceed 250 million euros. In relation to the PRR, he guaranteed that all milestones and time targets are being met and that all tenders launched in the PRR were won by Portuguese companies. In total, IP has 463 million euros for 27 highway projects and 49 million for railway works.
