According to a report by idealista, the parishes located in the municipalities of Odivelas, Sintra, and Amadora are the most sought-after of all for renting a home. In first place in preferences is the parish of Pontinha and Famões (Odivelas), followed by Cacém and São Marcos and the parish of Rio de Mouro (both in Sintra), and also the parishes of Mina de Água and Venteira, in Amadora.

When it comes to renting, there is also a greater demand for houses to rent where housing prices are more affordable compared to other locations – although with some exceptions. In the parishes of Cacém, São Marcos, Agualva, and Mira, in Sintra, house rents are, on average, 988 euros per month, being among the cheapest areas to rent a home and among the 10 most sought-after. The City of Santarém is the cheapest parish of all, with a monthly rent of 865 euros.

Unsurprisingly, the most expensive parishes to rent a house in – such as Charneca da Caparica and Sobreda (Almada), São João das Lampas and Terrugem (Sintra), Arroios, Campolide, Olivais, Alcântara and Beato (in Lisbon), which have rents per month between 1,575 euros and 2,500 euros –are among the least sought after by families.
