Mulley Communications conducted an analysis utilising Google and Meta Ad Transparency technologies, revealing that Sinn Féin spent €64,149 on internet advertisements in the last 90 days twice as much as all other parties put together.
Sinn Féin has spent €266,428 on internet advertisements over the last five years, with Fianna Fáil coming in second with €213,215.
Labour spent €54,139 on web ads during a five-year period, while Fine Gael spent €170,154.
According to Mulley Communications' Damien Mulley, “there's not a huge difference between the parties when you look at their five-year ad spend.”
“However, this year, Sinn Féin is showing a significant increase, nearing their total 2023 spend in just the first half of the year, even though the local and European campaigns have barely started.”
Based on the data, Sinn Féin has spent €1,500 on Facebook and Instagram advertisements featuring Taoiseach Simon Harris and €7,000 on Google advertising in the last few weeks.
The mean of the expenses which were shown for each ad on the Meta Ad Library in ranges was used to analyse Sinn Féin's 2023 ad budget.
