A GNR source told Lusa agency that the suspect was brought before a judge today, who decided to apply for preventive detention at the Olhão Prison Establishment, also in the district of Faro.

According to a statement from the GNR, the man was arrested by the Territorial Command of Faro, through the Criminal Investigation Center (NIC) of Loulé, "for thefts inside residences" in the municipality.

Also according to the note, the identification and location of the suspect was made within an investigation that had been going on for around 18 months, into thefts in luxury residences.

"Following the action, a home search warrant and an arrest warrant were executed," says the GNR, adding that during the operation various materials were seized, namely jewellery, watches and 3,650 euros in cash.
