In the ranking of what the Portuguese most searched for on Google are “national elections Portugal”, “legislative debates”, “US elections”, “Copa América”, “Earthquake”, “Tropical Storm Patty” and “Valencia”.

The most searched national name was José Castelo Branco, followed by Miguel Bravo and Rúben Amorim. On the international stage, Kate Middleton leads, followed by Betty Grafstein and Donald Trump, according to Google's “Year in Search 2024”.

This year the Portuguese wanted to learn above all “how to make a carnation?”, “how to make IRS Jovem?” or “how to make quinoa?”. However, they also wanted to know “how to vote in the elections in Portugal?”, “how to know where to vote?” or “how to validate 2024 invoices?”. Furthermore, the Portuguese wanted to clear up doubts about “what is a Mormon?”, “what is a hookah?” or “what is world currency?”.

Football also continues to be a prominent topic in the country. In a year marked by several events, the one that generated the most research from the Portuguese was Euro 2024, followed by the “national elections in Portugal” and the “elections [of] the USA”. Still in football, Diogo Costa, Lamine Yamal and João Neves were the most sought after players, while within the theme of the Olympic Games, gymnastics leads the most sought after event among the different disciplines of the event, followed by sailing and climbing.

Within entertainment, and with regard to programs, series or films, “Secret Story” led the curiosity of the Portuguese. “Big Brother” and “Inside Out 2” were the other two most searched titles.

As far as the musical field is concerned, “Taylor Swift Portugal” was the most searched topic in a year in which the North American star performed in Portugal at the end of May, followed by “Ana Moura Globos de Ouro 2024 ″ and “Scorpions”, a band that also performed in Portugal this year at Rock in Rio and that has already announced that it will return to the country next year. Musical artists also lead among searches carried out by Portuguese people about deceased people, with Liam Payne and Marco Paulo heading the list, followed by actress Ana Afonso.
