According to the Algarve Regional Emergency and Civil Protection Command, the plane, a Boeing 737-300, with 24 people on board, “landed safely”.

The flight departed from Leeds, in the United Kingdom, bound for Gago Coutinho International Airport, in the Algarve.

According to the source, the emergency was declared by the pilots at 11:27 am due to an alleged problem with the flaps, the aircraft's support system at low speed, essential for the landing manoeuvre.

According to the Algarve Regional Command, “the situation led to the activation of the emergency plan, in accordance with the established protocol”, which mobilises several Civil Protection entities.
