The session was scheduled for 10 am, however, there was a delay of 11 minutes and many seat changes during the plenary session.

Hugo Soares, PSD deputy, wished all the members of the Parliament “an excellent term of office”, on behalf of his party. The previous leader of the PSD parliamentary group added that the elected deputies are united, aiming to look out adding that all 230 MPs elected on 18 “out for people and improving their daily living conditions.

Following parliamentary tradition, the outgoing president of parliament was invited to conduct the proceedings. Aguiar-Branco then invited Germana Rocha, from PSD and Gabriel Mithá Ribeiro, from Chega, his secretaries in the last legislature.

“This session is for the vote on the committee for the verification of the credentials of the elected deputies and will then be interrupted and resume at 3 pm for the reading of the report and votes for the election of the president of the Assembly of the Republic, the vice-presidents, secretaries and vice-secretaries, and the board of directors of the Assembly of the Republic,” he explained.

Deputy Germana Rocha then read the draft resolution, with the composition of this committee: seven members from the PSD (Emídio Guerreiro, Hugo Carneiro, Hugo Oliveira, Marco Claudino, Sandra Pereira, Joaquim Barbosa and Nuno Gonçalves), five from Chega (Bruno Nunes, Bernardo Pessanha, Patrícia Almeida, João Aleixo, Sónia Monteiro) and five from the PS (Filipe Neto Brandão, Pedro Delgado Alves, Marina Gonçalves, Isabel Moreira and Pedro Vaz).

The other parliamentary groups appointed one deputy each: Joana Cordeiro for IL, Paulo Muacho for Livre, Paula Santos for PCP, and João Almeida for CDS-PP.

The bill was unanimously approved and the session was adjourned at 10:17 am, to be resumed at 3:00 pm.
