According to the study, the growth was most notable in packages priced between €600 and €1,200.

In 2025, the Portuguese chose Cape Verde as their preferred destination, followed by the Dominican Republic and the Spanish islands. Compared to 2024, the top three remained the same, but the Spanish islands lost Portuguese visitors, dropping to third place.

The relationship between quality and price remains the most decisive criterion when choosing a trip, followed by concerns about travel time.

For ANAV president Miguel Quintas, the sector has contributed decisively to these trends: “The work carried out by travel agencies means that there is now a much more competitive offer on the market in destinations such as the Caribbean or Africa than in Portugal. Contrary to what has been conventionally believed, the prices charged on the domestic market are not the only explanation for the trends seen in recent years.”

The 2025 Summer Barometer is based on responses from 51 travel agencies to a six-question questionnaire and aims to identify consumer trends, motivations and priorities.
