The suspect was arrested on Saturday and, as a source from the Judiciary Police (PJ) told Lusa, was banned from domestic airports after appearing in court.

On Saturday, SATA Azores Airlines revealed that the bomb threat that led to the diversion of flight S4 504, en route from Ponta Delgada to Bilbao, Spain, "was not validated by the competent authorities, following a thorough inspection of the aircraft and baggage."

According to the company, "after the competent authorities completed the investigations," the aircraft was authorized to resume operations, with the Lisbon-Bilbao flight rescheduled for that evening, with 111 passengers on board.

The two passengers detained in connection with the incident did not continue their journey, according to SATA Azores Airlines.

Contacted by Lusa on Saturday, a source from the PJ said that one person was being detained for allegedly causing the incident and would be brought before the court for the first interrogation of the detained defendant and the application of coercive measures.
