The race will have four laps of 402 metres each, totalling one mile. The challenge is to drink a medium-sized beer (33 cl) before each lap, for a total of four beers during the race.
The race will start at 9:00pm. Participation is open to anyone over 18 years of age, and can be done individually or in relays (teams of four athletes).
Alcoholic or non-alcoholic beer is available; participation with non-alcoholic beer does not include a classification or prize.

Each participant must drink all of their beer before starting the round; failure to do so results in disqualification. In relays, if one participant fails, the entire team will be disqualified.
The kit includes a race bib, technical t-shirt, Marafada craft beer, and sponsorship gifts. Medical assistance and insurance are also provided.
Registration is open online until August 11, 2025, using the form available at https://freechallenge.pt/beer-run-faro.
This race is organized by Free Challenge – Associação Desportiva e Socio-Cultural.

This is stupid. Alcohol dehydrates, the last thing needed for those who are running.

It takes a minimum of 15 minutes for beer to start absorbing, so you have enough time to finish your run.

Daftest thing I’ve read about for a while. Promote culture and quality, it there’s any left.
Algarve is sorely lacking both.

It's idiotic to drink alcohol in 40°C heat, even if you're sitting in the shade. You can feel the heart attack coming. Even elite athletes are now suffering from cardiac arrest during races for strange reasons. This must be one of the most stupid things ever.
