The projects include the deployment of specialised teams and resources to detect and repair, as quickly as possible, ruptures in the low-volume distribution network.
An active water leak detection campaign is already underway along a 130-km stretch of public water supply in the municipality of Portimão: the kilometres were selected based on the network's age, the density of branches per km of network, and seasonal flow variations. The service, provided by the company B.Efficient, will allow for the identification of hidden leaks, especially in older and more problematic areas of the city.
Additionally, EMARP acquired 20 acoustic loggers from Tecnilab, which, using artificial intelligence, will permanently monitor the water supply network and automatically send daily alerts to the company, allowing it to determine the likely location of water leaks.
In the first phase, the devices will be installed in the Monte Canelas Urbanisation, in the parish of Mexilhoeira Grande, and can later be placed at other points in the network, providing long-term added value.
The two active leak control projects are financed by the Environmental Fund, within a technical and financial collaboration agreement, and will contribute to the sustainable use and protection of water resources.
