"Thank you to the League for this award. Being recognised as the best player of all time is a source of pride, especially in my own country. Thank you to all my teammates who helped me win this trophy, and I thank all the coaches who helped me on my journey to become even better," said the Portuguese national team captain.

In this third edition of the 'Liga Portugal Awards,' the LPFP also paid posthumous tribute to Jorge Nuno Pinto da Costa, former president of FC Porto and the League itself, an honour received by his son, Alexandre Pinto da Costa.

In the institutional awards, the Benfica Foundation won in the Social Responsibility category, while former Portuguese international player Pepe received the Liga Portugal award.

Current national coach Roberto Martínez received the Prestige Award, and he also mentioned Diogo Jota, the Portuguese international footballer who died in a traffic accident on July 3rd.

"It's a great honour to receive this award and to be the first non-Portuguese coach to win an international title for Portugal. It's a title that brings responsibility because we want to win more. We have to honour the dream of someone we miss, Diogo Jota. For him, for all Portuguese people, and for the future of the national team. This last training camp was difficult and very emotional, but our locker room is different. We have a strength that we will use until the end, with pride," emphasized the national team coach.

The Sports Merit Award was presented to players Nuno Mendes, Vitinha, João Neves, and Gonçalo Ramos, as well as manager Luís Campos, all representing the French club Paris Saint-Germain.

In the 'Hall of Fame' category, Portuguese internationals Nani and Ricardo Quaresma were honoured, symbolising a remarkable generation of national football.

The Liga Portugal Gala, held at the LPFP headquarters in Porto, brought together different generations of national professional football in a night of recognition for their careers, but also for their sporting performance in the 2024/25 season.
