She was already crowned four-time European champion in 2025, becoming the first Portuguese skater to win the senior world title in the sport.
"I feel very happy. I'm very satisfied with my ability to compete with older athletes and achieve what I set out to do," said Madalena Costa, quoted by RTP.
In addition to being the first Portuguese athlete to win the title, Madalena Costa is also the youngest athlete ever to be crowned world figure skating champion, having achieved a record score in women's figure skating.
"I feel very accomplished with the work done with my coaching staff and even more motivated to achieve new titles and continue making history in the sport," she said, quoted by the same media outlet.
Madalena Costa finished with a combined score of 260.15 in the short and long program, ahead of Italy's Cioia Fiori (224.76), who won silver, and Spain's Sira Bella Gallardo (185.66), who won bronze. Compatriots Catarina Craveiro and Mariana Almeida finished seventh (151.78) and eighth (142.91), respectively.
"This title represents all the things I gave up and all the hours I spent training while my friends had fun. All those days when I didn't feel like training, but with the help of my mother, who is my coach, I managed to overcome those obstacles," she explained.

Madalena is Madeiran from Santa Cruz. The article should say that.
