Developed in Latvia and winner of Emergn’s HackCodeX hackathon, Eye Get It demonstrates how innovation supported by businesses can deliver tangible social impact. According to the World Health Organization, around 3% of the global population – about 75 million people – are on the autism spectrum, and up to 30% of them are non-verbal. The app offers a digital alternative to traditional printed visual cards, using AI to generate personalised images that help children express themselves.

Creator Diāna Maksimceva said the hackathon “was an incredible opportunity to combine my personal experience with the power of AI and technology to bring children and families closer together.”

Eye Get It features two user modes, one for parents or teachers and another for children, as well as basic and advanced levels, ensuring it adapts to different needs and learning stages.

Emergn regularly holds hackathons to encourage creativity and cross-team collaboration, fostering new ideas with social impact. “At Emergn, we believe technology should serve a purpose,” said Fredrik Hagstroem, the company’s Chief Technology Officer. “Eye Get It is a great example of how our investment in AI, including here in Portugal, is helping children communicate, be understood and included.”

Headquartered in London, Emergn operates in more than 12 countries, including a key base in Porto, where around 80 professionals specialise in marketing, recruitment, product design, automation and AI.

Eye Get It is currently available in Portuguese, English, Russian and German, with more languages, such as French, Spanish and Italian, to follow soon.
